About This Spot

Oda Sushi is the kind of intimate spot where the quiet rhythm of a small town infuses the meal with an unhurried grace. Nestled in Miyazu, Kyoto, this modest sushi restaurant welcomes just a handful of guests at a time, inviting you to slow down and savor each moment. From the moment you step in, there’s a calm intentionality in the air — a pace set not by the clock, but by the art of preparing sushi with care and respect.

The setting feels personal and deliberate, almost like being welcomed into a local’s kitchen rather than a conventional restaurant. The sushi chef works visibly behind the counter, crafting each piece with practiced hands and thoughtful precision, creating a quiet connection between maker and diner. The experience unfolds gently, where rules and rhythms are honored to keep the kitchen’s pace steady and the quality uncompromised.

Your meal here is an exploration of freshness and simplicity—sushi and sashimi that reflect the region’s rich coastal bounty without unnecessary embellishment. The offerings range from delicate nigiri selections to seasonal treasures like snow crab and naturally prepared seafood, often paired with house-served tea or local sake. The freshness is palpable, and the flavors resonate with the quiet assurance of ingredients treated with reverence.

Oda Sushi’s smaller scale means prices may be a touch higher than typical city spots, but here it feels tied to a respect for craft and place rather than flash. For those who appreciate mindful dining and the subtle joy of watching skilled hands at work, it unfolds as a quietly rewarding experience. Its friendly openness to diverse dietary needs gently marks it as a welcoming gem in Miyazu’s culinary scene.

This is a small sushi place that cater 6 persons each time. The chef set many rules for the customers to follow, prefer to serves slow and set the boundaries to maintain his own pace and standards. This is hardly experience in the city when having the pressure for paying rent but in this small town, this is do-able. It is not cheap while the standard match the price.

Just found out it by accident when I was looking for halal food. The review said the chef didn’t use alcohol in making sushi. So I went eating there, the place was authentic. Only 6-7 seats available. The chef was making sushi just right on the spotZ the price was cheaper than I ate in Osaka. Sushi was oishii and I like it. You should try it!

I went there randomly at 6pm and ordered sushi. The chef prepared it right in front of me (which was very cool to see) and I was served in about 5min. I was amazed of how fresh and tasty the sushi were, truly one of the best sushi’s I had in my entire Japan trip ! Highly recommended

The only muslim friendly restaurant at the area. The food is so fresh as the owner will prepare the food infront of us. The price is cheap too.

It was Muslim-friendly. I gave him the Japanese Muslim card, and they checked all the ingredients. The chef made the sushi right in front of us. The place is small, suitable for only six pax.

So glad to have found 小田寿司. We all loved this stop during our visit to Amanohashidate. Its a short walk and they have 1 parking space for customers. The quaint little sushi shop has 7 seats for a cosy and intimate setting. We waited awhile in strong wind and it was worth the wait! The fish are all so fresh and thick cuts. The unagi eel were grilled so perfectly. The chef made care to check if our child took wasabi, and he was surprised to know that kiddo did. Note that they do note take credit cards and that orders are limited to 1 per person. This is to cater for all in line. Wait times might affect any public traveling timelines so bear that in mind. Taste: Omakase sushi 5/5 Jounigiri sushi 5/5 Taango Chiraishi 5/5 Jpurmaki Sushi 4.5/5 Awesome and wonderful. Hope to be able to visit you again.

Loved our dinner here after a day of exploring amanohashidate! Only 6 seats but we arrived around 4:45 and were the first in. Within 10 mins it was full so arrive early! Ordered the biggest sushi platter option and each piece was delicious
